Universitas Islam Indonesia (Islamic University of Indonesia) is located in Yogyakarta - one of the most wonderful cities in Indonesia. Countless masterpieces of Asian architecture can be found, both natural and manmade, including the Buddhist temple of Borobudur and the Hindu temple of Prambanan.

Gadjah Mada University, which has taken on a new status as a state-owned legal entity since December 26, 2000, is the oldest and largest university in Indonesia. It was founded on December 9, 1949 and currently has 18 faculties, 71 undergraduate study programs, 28 diploma study programs and a Graduate Program of 62 study programs with around 55,000 students, 350 foreign students, 2,301 employees, and 2,266 lecturers. Up until October 2003, the University has graduated 134,219 students consisting of 17,358 diploma holders, 94,923 first degree holders, 21,406 masters and 532 PhD holders.

In its age more than 30 years, UNS-SOLO has been developing into o ne of the universities, which is nominated in Indonesia. The main outcomes of all activities conducted can be seen from the improvement of graduate quality, which is marked by improvement in average of cumulative achievement index, Educational Efficiency Rate, and number of graduates with cum laude, as well as the shortening of length of study. UNS alumni have been widely accepted in the work market all over Indonesia, and have been taking a lot of important positions in community. In research area, the achievement in grant competition also improves. The cooperation networks of UNS-SOlO with some domestic as well as overseas institutions have also improved and given significant results.
